During the ceremony, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, together with the hostage survivors and the crowd of worshipers, recited a special thanksgiving prayer for their return.
In addition, prayers were held for the well-being of IDF soldiers and security forces, for the unity of the people, and for the peace and security of Israel. The ceremony was also attended by the CEO of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, and tens of thousands of worshipers.
The next central Selichot ceremony at the Western Wall plaza will take place this coming Thursday, 14 Elul (August 27), at 00:15.
