Crazy gaps of hundreds of dollars: when is it cheapest to fly during the holidays
A new check reveals dramatic gaps in flight and hotel prices during the upcoming Tishrei holidays, where choosing the right date can save a family over $1,000 on the exact same destination.
Gaps of tens of percent in vacation prices make choosing the flight date during the Tishrei holidays a significant economic decision. A check by the Gulliver tourism company reveals that flexibility in dates between Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot can save hundreds of dollars per person and over $1,000 per family on the exact same destination.
A check of the data shows that the most profitable period is not uniform and changes from destination to destination depending on supply and demand.

Burgas, 4-star hotel: Yom Kippur is the cheapest period, with a price of $424 per person, which is a decrease of about 33% compared to Rosh Hashanah ($636). During Sukkot, the price rises to $507.

Paphos (4-star hotel): on Yom Kippur, the price drops to $618 per person, about 15% less than Rosh Hashanah ($727), but during Sukkot, the price jumps by 27% to $785 per person.

Rhodes, 5-star hotel: Sukkot is the most profitable holiday, with a drop to $678 per person, a saving of $1,028 for a family of four compared to the Rosh Hashanah price of $935.

Athens, 4-star hotel: specifically on Yom Kippur, there is a price increase of 10% to $1,000 per person, while during Sukkot, the price drops by 15% to $853.

Corfu, 4-star hotel: Yom Kippur shows an increase to $1,019 per person, but during Sukkot, the price drops by 20% to $815 per person.

Ayia Napa, 4-star hotel: shows a trend of continuous price reduction from $805 in Rosh Hashanah, through $727 in Yom Kippur (-10%), and down to $687 in Sukkot.

Budapest, 4-star hotel: prices remain relatively stable with a constant slight increase: $889 in Rosh Hashanah, $921 in Yom Kippur, and $957 in Sukkot.
Beyond the price differences, this year the eve of Yom Kippur falls on a Sunday, a fact that allows connecting the weekend to the adjacent days and wisely utilizing days off from work.
"Many assume that all Tishrei holidays are priced similarly, but in practice, we see differences between the various travel dates. Anyone who checks several date alternatives and does not fixate on one departure date can sometimes find gaps of hundreds of dollars on the same vacation. Our recommendation is to start the search early, compare several dates, and examine the total cost of the vacation before booking," stated Tamar Gerzon, CEO of Gulliver.
