Will Davidi join Religious Zionism? Mutual compliments with Smotrich

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich visited the Hesder Yeshiva in Sderot today, Monday, and received praise from Mayor Alon Davidi, who was also present at the meeting.

"He insisted on a most significant decision and moved our enemy three to four kilometers away from us. He deserves credit for this," the mayor stated.

Smotrich reciprocated the praise, noting: "I have been in politics for 11 years, 4 of them as Finance Minister, and I have not seen a mayor and local leader so talented and professional."

Davidi offered broad public backing to Smotrich during the visit, crediting him with an uncompromising stance on achieving a decisive victory in the war and distancing the enemy from the city's borders, while calling him "a friend of the periphery and of the people of Israel."

Speaking about the minister's influence on the war, the mayor added: "There are many people in the opposition and in the media who are worried about what is happening in the Gaza Strip, on the yellow line, and why they are attacking. I say: it is fortunate that we had people like Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich who knew how to stand firm in a difficult situation. It turns out that the one who insisted that the hostage deal go hand in hand with a most significant decision to move our enemy three to four kilometers away from us was Bezalel Smotrich, and that must be said."

The wave of mutual compliments has sparked speculation regarding the possibility that Davidi will join the Religious Zionism party in the upcoming elections.
