The Czech Republic national team won the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly the Fed Cup) on Sunday, defeating Ukraine 2:0 in the final held in Shenzhen, China. Karolina Muchova and Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova secured the victory, marking the Czech Republic's first title since 2018 and their 12th overall in the prestigious women's tennis tournament, trailing only the United States with 18 trophies.
Karolina Muchova delivered a dominant serving performance to defeat Anhelina Kalinina 6:2, 6:3. The world No. 8 fired eight aces and won 86% of her first-serve points without facing a single break point, converting four of her five break opportunities in a match that lasted 70 minutes.
Linda Noskova faced a tougher test against Elina Svitolina but prevailed 6:3, 7:6(5). The 21-year-old displayed a composed and confident game, hitting 10 aces and holding firm in a tense second set to seal the championship for the Czech Republic after one hour and 33 minutes.
Katerina Siniakova, a 12-time Grand Slam champion in women's doubles, was scheduled to play alongside Marie Bouzkova in the doubles rubber, but the Czech team wrapped up the series in the singles matches. For Ukraine, it was a historic first-ever appearance in the final after stunning defending champions Italy in the semifinals.
