The Central District Court sentenced Yeshmbel Kabada to 10 years in prison on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty under a plea bargain to reckless homicide in the death of his friend, Zamana Gadmu.

According to the indictment, following a drinking session, Kabada struck Gadmu throughout his body, kicked him while he was lying on the floor, slapped his face forcefully, and then delivered a severe kick to his head, ultimately leading to the victim's death.

In determining the sentence, the court noted the prolonged nature of the violent acts despite opportunities to stop, the lack of provocation from the victim, the brutal disregard for the victim's pleas, and the failure to call for medical assistance.

The court also considered that the victim initially refused to go to the hospital, returned home, and later fell asleep before being found unconscious. In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a suspended sentence and ordered Kabada to pay 180,000 shekels in compensation to the victim's family.
