A blow to the Attorney General: Judge Solberg ruled in favor of Ben Gvir

The Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, rejected today, Monday, the petition that sought to prevent the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir from participating and speaking at the appreciation event for police volunteers and members of the rapid response teams. The decision was made contrary to the position of the Attorney General, Gali Baharav-Miara, who argued that Ben Gvir's participation in the event could be considered election propaganda, among other things due to the identification of the event with the minister's activities and the establishment of more than 1,000 rapid response teams during his tenure.

As part of the proceedings, attorney Zeev Wolf, representing Ben Gvir, presented the minister's position that the guidelines intended to limit his participation were formulated specifically in relation to the current event. Solberg rejected the petition, thereby allowing Ben Gvir to participate in the event and deliver remarks.

Ben Gvir welcomed the decision and attacked the Attorney General:

"Gali Baharav-Miara tried to stop us when we established the rapid response teams – and failed. Now she tried to prevent me from coming and thanking them – and failed again."
