The alleged gang rape case at Cornell University continues to spark outrage, igniting protests against the academic institution and the students named in the lawsuit. At the same time, the plaintiff, known by the pseudonym "Jane Doe," is facing death threats, attempts to expose her identity, and an alarming incident where armed police officers pointed weapons at her family members.

The young woman's attorney, Thomas Jopra, told CNN that since filing a civil lawsuit alleging she was raped at the Chi Phi fraternity in October 2024, she and her family have been subjected to continuous threats. According to Jopra, he and his family have also received threats.

Online Doxxing and Intimidation

Alongside the threats, several online influencers with large follower counts have been campaigning to expose the identity of the plaintiff, whose name was redacted in legal documents. In late September, one influencer posted a message on X to his roughly 347,000 followers, urging anyone with knowledge of the plaintiff's identity to contact him.

The attempts to uncover her identity have intensified the young woman's fears as she struggles to cope with the aftermath of the lawsuit. The scandal has sparked a widespread public debate regarding how the university and its campus police initially handled her allegations.

SWATing Incident and Escalating Threats

One of the most alarming incidents occurred on Tuesday evening when armed police rushed to the young woman's home following a false report claiming someone was killing people inside. According to her attorney, officers pointed weapons at her partner, brother, and father.

Jane Doe was at home during the incident and forced to witness armed police confronting her loved ones. Following the incident, she received threatening text messages, and both the attorney and his wife received menacing phone calls.

Social Media Solidarity

Despite the harassment, a massive wave of support has emerged on social media under the banner "I am also Jane Doe." Countless users have posted solidarity messages, sharing personal stories of survival and attempting to confuse algorithms to protect the victim's true identity from doxxing.
