Continuing to strengthen: Tal Peled signs with Elitzur Netanya
The scorer (24, 1.92m) who played in recent years at Maccabi Rehovot preferred the offer from the team relegated from the Super League and signed for the next season with an automatic extension to his contract if the team promotes to the first league.
The arms race between the top teams in the National Basketball League continues. Today, Wednesday, Elitzur Netanya made a significant move by signing shooting guard Tal Peled, who played for the last three years at Maccabi Rehovot. Peled received a large number of offers from the second league during the current offseason, but chose Netanya, which offered him an option for an additional season—one that will be activated automatically if the team promotes to the Super League.
Peled (24, 1.92m) is a product of the Maccabi Rishon LeZion youth department who moved up to the senior team at the age of 18, showing flashes of talent in the Super League during the 2020/21 season. After being relegated with the team to the second league and failing to help them promote the following season, he left for Maccabi Rehovot. In Rehovot, he became one of the best players in the league and reached the playoff finals for promotion. He started the 2024/25 season in the Super League with Gilboa/Galil, but returned to Rehovot during the season, recording an average of 13.3 points.
Netanya, which was relegated this season to the second league after two years in the Super League, has built a team aiming to return to the first league after just one season. Shay Saglovich was appointed as sports director, and under his leadership, Amit Sherf was named head coach. Effi Tyomkin remained with the team and was joined by Yogev Ohayon, Tomer Porat, Oz Lavi, and naturalized player Josh Aldrich.
