Construction in Tel Aviv Under Scrutiny: 6 Illegal Residents Arrested in City Center

The Israel Police continues its fight against the phenomenon of illegal residents, with a focus on parties that employ, transport, and house them throughout the country. As part of a focused enforcement operation by officers of the Lev Tel Aviv station in the Yarkon District, a raid was carried out on a construction site in the city center, leading to its immediate closure and the arrest of several suspects. This activity is part of an ongoing effort to ensure public safety and well-being.

The incident occurred on July 28, 2026, when police forces arrived by surprise at a construction site located on Matmon HaCohen Street in Tel Aviv. During an inspection, officers identified six workers who were residents of the territories. Upon verification, it was determined that they were illegal residents who had entered Israel without valid stay permits. The workers were employed at the site without the required documentation for either themselves or their employers.

Immediately following the discovery of the violation, the six individuals were arrested and brought in for questioning at the police station, after which it was decided to detain them. Parallel to the proceedings against the workers, severe sanctions were applied to the construction site.

Officers from the Licensing Office acted swiftly, and based on the findings, the Tel Aviv District Commander, Nitzav Haim Sargof, signed an administrative closure order for the site. The order is valid for 30 days, through August 28, 2026. This measure conveys a message of zero tolerance toward the employment of workers in violation of the law.
