Israel Innovation Authority has launched the RSTPCS consortium, the country's first R&D consortium in the construction sector with a budget of 60 million NIS. Initiated by Shapir, the project aims to develop breakthrough construction technologies and advanced materials over 36 months, with 60% of funding provided by the state.

Advanced Materials and Design Tools

The work program focuses on two main product categories. First, design and optimization tools will help engineers build with greater efficiency, lower environmental impact, and less waste. Second, new construction materials—including alternatives to cement, concrete, and iron—will allow for stronger and lighter structures, reducing the required volume of concrete for high-rise buildings, bridges, and tunnels.

The engineering and economic goals include a reduction of at least 20% in raw materials for structural frames, a 33% reduction in building weight, and a 20% cut in road infrastructure maintenance costs. Participating companies alongside Shapir include Ekolbet, Elbit Systems, and ICL, while academic partners feature the Technion, Ben-Gurion University, Tel Aviv University, and Shenkar College.

Shufersal Expands in Ramat Negev

In a separate business development, the Shufersal group has won a land tender issued by the Israel Land Authority, paying 15 million NIS for a plot in the Ramat Negev Regional Council. The land, located near Highway 40, is designated for a commercial and employment center as well as 100 hotel rooms.

"The total investment in the project is estimated at 100 million NIS, spanning approximately 20 dunams with an approved master plan for 16,000 square meters of commercial space," company representatives noted.

Laro Properties, Shufersal's real estate arm, submitted the winning bid, significantly outperforming competitors and exceeding the official appraisal value of 14 million NIS.
