Driving against the flow and shooting at tires: A dramatic chase after a suspicious vehicle near Shfaram

Motorcyclists from the Border Police (MAGAV) Public Security Brigade, fighters from the 'YASAM Galil' special unit, and police officers from the Shfaram station in the Northern District stopped a suspicious vehicle that did not comply with orders to stop, following a dramatic chase during which fire was opened on the vehicle's tires. Two suspects were arrested, and a pistol and a magazine were seized.

According to the police statement, during a joint operation on Highway 781 near Shfaram, the forces identified a vehicle that aroused their suspicion and ordered the driver to stop for inspection. The driver of the vehicle did not comply with the officers' calls, began to flee by driving recklessly, drove against the flow of traffic, and posed a real danger to road users.

During the chase, the motorcyclists of the Public Security Brigade carried out a suspect arrest procedure, during which they fired at the vehicle's tires until it stopped. At the end of the chase, two suspects were arrested - an 18-year-old resident of Ibtin and a 21-year-old resident of I'billin - and a Glock pistol was seized.

The suspects were interrogated at the Shfaram police station and are being brought to court today for a hearing on the police's request to extend their detention.

The police note that since the beginning of the year, Northern District police officers and Border Police fighters have seized over 530 lethal weapons in the district's sector and have arrested armed individuals 'in the act' as part of the fight against violent crime.
