Drivers, take note: Large-scale nationwide enforcement operation begins tomorrow

Increased and large-scale enforcement activity will begin tomorrow (Thursday) morning on Israel's roads, led by the Traffic Division and in cooperation with the National Road Safety Authority. Hundreds of police officers and volunteers will operate from the north of the country to the south, using about 500 patrol cars and motorcycles, both marked and unmarked, with the goal of identifying life-threatening traffic violations and removing dangerous drivers from the road.

During the operation, still cameras, tactical cameras, laser speed guns, "Dvora" devices, and other digital means will be used. Enforcement will take place throughout the day and into the night, on routes and at risk hotspots in intercity and urban areas, in accordance with the analysis of road accident data and traffic violations.

The activity will focus on speeding, distracted driving, lane deviation, failure to obey traffic lights, and violations by riders of motorcycles, scooters, and electric bicycles. Detectives from the Traffic Division's central unit will operate in a targeted manner against criminal drivers who, according to the police, pose a real danger to road users.

Police stated that the increased enforcement is especially required during the summer vacation period, which is characterized by an increase in traffic volume, family trips to vacation sites, a high rate of new and young drivers, and increased use of two-wheeled vehicles.

Head of the Traffic Division, Nitzav Haim Shmueli, said:

"Governance on the roads is not a slogan; it requires consistent enforcement presence and holding those who endanger human lives accountable. During the operation, many forces will operate on all central and secondary routes while using advanced enforcement means and both overt and covert activity."

Shmueli added that hundreds of Traffic Division volunteers will join the police officers during the operation. The police called on drivers and all road users to drive responsibly, follow traffic laws, and avoid life-threatening violations.
