"Completely devastated": How Keith Urban reacted to Nicole Kidman's new relationship
Paparazzi photos of the actress kissing her new partner have left the country star completely devastated. Sources close to Urban suggest that his ex's move gives him the green light to move on, hinting: "Don't be surprised if he soon comes out with a 'revenge romance' of his own."
Keith Urban is struggling to process reports regarding the new relationship of his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, with businessman Michael Reinstein. According to New Idea, the 58-year-old country star was left "completely devastated" following the publication of photos showing Kidman, 59, looking intimate with Reinstein—holding hands and kissing—in the wake of her marriage to Urban.
"Until now, the door was completely closed regarding his relationship with Nicole," a source told the magazine. "But he still held onto hope that there might be a chance for reconciliation. He is absolutely devastated and is reliving that same sense of deep loss all over again."
According to the same source, the fact that Kidman appears to be moving on is prompting Urban to rethink his own romantic life. "Seeing Nicole seemingly move on gives him permission to do the same," the insider noted. However, they claimed that Urban is in no rush to enter a public relationship and would prefer to keep his next romance away from the cameras: "Don't be surprised if Keith comes out with a 'revenge romance' of his own. He knows he has to move on."
As a reminder, the photos of Kidman and Reinstein were published by the Daily Mail, documenting the pair on vacation along the Italian Riviera. A source close to Kidman told the Daily Mail: "After everything she went through with Keith, she deserves to find happiness."
"She never thought her marriage wouldn't work, and she tried as hard as she could to keep her family whole," the source added. "Her daughters are her best friends, and she looks genuinely content with her life. She is very easy to get along with and is a kind person. She keeps her personal life very private."
Reports surfaced as early as June that Kidman was romantically linked to a senior businessman. According to the gossip site DeuxMoi, the two moved slowly, and a source said at the time that the relationship had been developing quietly for several months, kept strictly under the radar. Joining the Italian getaway were Kidman’s daughters, 18-year-old Sunday Rose and 15-year-old Faith, whom she shares with Urban.
Kidman and Urban were married for nearly two decades. Their separation was revealed last September after 19 years of marriage, and the divorce was officially finalized in January, following a prolonged process that began when their relationship hit a snag in the summer of 2025.
In a March interview with Variety, Kidman spoke about the separation, stating she is moving forward. "What I am grateful for is my family, keeping it as it is, and moving forward. That's it," she said. When asked if she was doing well after the split, she replied: "Yes, because I will always move towards what is good."
