Colombia is set to inaugurate its embassy in Jerusalem on Wednesday, becoming the 10th foreign embassy in the capital. The opening ceremony will take place in central Jerusalem with Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bolla Escobar and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar.

Financial Support and Special Event

To encourage Colombia's decision to relocate its diplomatic mission, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs is funding the rental of the building. In honor of the milestone, the ministry organized a festive Latin carnival-styled reception. Officials noted that an external production company was hired to manage the event at a cost of tens of thousands of shekels, drawing scrutiny from internal professional staff.

The ministry is leading a dramatic diplomatic effort to strengthen Israel's standing in Latin America and encourage further embassy relocations to Jerusalem, said a Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The move marks a significant turnaround following tense relations under Colombia's previous administration. Israeli Ambassador to Colombia Vivian Eisen welcomed Escobar upon his arrival, emphasizing the importance of the visit in solidifying bilateral friendship and cooperation.
