Colin Farrell Shares Rare Look Into Life With Son James in HBO Project
Actor Colin Farrell shares a rare and touching glimpse of his 23-year-old son James, who has Angelman syndrome, in a new HBO documentary trailer highlighting disability advocacy.

Actor Colin Farrell has offered a rare glimpse into his personal life, sharing a tender moment with his 23-year-old eldest son, James, in the trailer for an upcoming HBO documentary. James was diagnosed in early childhood with Angelman syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disorder affecting the nervous system and causing developmental delays and communication challenges.
The documentary, titled The Slightest Touch, follows Farrell alongside his longtime friend and disability rights activist Emma Fogarty as they train for and participate in the Dublin Marathon. The project also sheds light on Farrell's deeply personal life and his advocacy work, capturing the actor embracing his son and reflecting on his decision to open his home to the cameras for the very first time.
Reflecting on his journey, Farrell established the Colin Farrell Foundation in 2024 to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In past interviews, the actor emphasized the critical gap in support systems that young adults face after turning 21, when specialized education and safety nets disappear, leaving families to navigate society alone.
"I want the world to be kind to James," Farrell shared in a previous statement, expressing his desire for his son to be treated with dignity and respect. Over the years, the Hollywood star has transformed his family's personal experience into a powerful platform for advocacy, fighting to ensure that adults with disabilities are never left behind.
