Ranking of Israel's wealthiest: Miriam Adelson narrows the gap with Eyal Ofer
The new ranking of the world's wealthiest reveals an especially tight battle at the Israeli top, as billions of dollars separate the top spots and one empire threatens to lose its lead.
Eyal Ofer leads the ranking of Israel's wealthiest, with his fortune estimated at 35.6 billion dollars. This sum places him in 60th place in the global ranking. Ofer built his fortune primarily after inheriting the shipping and business empire of his late father, Sammy Ofer, and later expanded his activity into the international real estate sector.
In second place among Israelis is Miriam Adelson, ranked 64th in the world with a fortune of 34.1 billion dollars, having narrowed the gap from Eyal Ofer by 200 million. Adelson owns the Israel Hayom newspaper, and she is also the owner of the Dallas Mavericks team from the NBA league. Her fortune places her only four spots behind Ofer in the global ranking.
In third place stands Idan Ofer, who is ranked 70th in the world with a fortune of 32.4 billion dollars. The bulk of his business activity is related to the shipping and industrial sectors, alongside significant investments in the fields of energy, chemicals, and public companies. He also holds activity in the international sports sector, among others through the Atletico Madrid club.
Further down the list appear brothers Dmitry and Igor Bukhman, who are ranked 230th in the world with a combined fortune of 13.6 billion dollars. The two accumulated the bulk of their fortune from the gaming industry, after they founded the company Playrix together, which became a central player in the field of mobile games.
The list presented here is closed by the Federman family, who are ranked 363rd in the world with a fortune of about 9.8 billion dollars. The family accumulated its fortune through business activity in the security and hotel sectors.
The gaps between the Israelis appearing at the top and the rest of those ranked illustrate the high concentration of capital. Ofer, Adelson, and Idan Ofer each hold a fortune of more than 30 billion dollars, while the Bukhman brothers and the Federman family are at significantly lower levels, but are still ranked among the largest capital owners in the world.
