Ranking of the world's best airlines: who crushed the competition?
Millions of passengers have decided which is the best airline for 2026. While one giant took first place in four different categories, beloved European companies recorded a particularly surprising fall.

The results of the 2026 Passenger Choice Awards by Airline Ratings have been published, presenting an intriguing map of power in the global aviation industry. Unlike most indices that rely solely on expert opinions, this ranking is based entirely on the votes of millions of passengers worldwide, who evaluated categories including economy class, aircraft appearance, uniforms, and cabin crew service.
The undisputed winner of the year is Singapore Airlines, which took first place in four key categories: preferred economy class, best cabin crew service, leading carrier in East Asia, and the company providing the greatest peace of mind. Conversely, European airlines recorded weak performance and failed to reach the top in leading categories, with British Airways, Lufthansa, and KLM noted only as regional preferences.
In the global low-cost sector, VietJet Air took first place, followed by AirAsia, while easyJet and Jetstar shared third place. Airline Ratings CEO Sharon Petersen emphasized the significance of these findings:
"Trust in an airline is earned over time, and these results prove the value of consistency. The continued strength of brands like Singapore Airlines and Qantas in the peace of mind category is a true credit to the trust they have built with passengers."
The results present a clear picture of public preference, placing Far Eastern carriers at the top of the priority list. It remains to be seen how these travelers' votes will influence the future moves of the industry's top airlines.
