G-City, the income-producing real estate company controlled by Haim Katzman, is joining other major property firms in the Israeli market by entering into an agreement to install electricity storage facilities across its properties. The company has signed a cooperation agreement with AGEERA, under which the latter will build and operate energy storage systems in 10 of G-City's properties in Israel.

Storage Capacity and First Project

The potential cumulative capacity of these storage facilities is expected to reach approximately 300 megawatt-hours, designed to serve G-City's internal electricity needs. The first property slated for implementation is an income-producing asset in Rishon LeZion—specifically the G complex in the city's western industrial zone, which houses the local Cinema City. This facility will feature a storage system with a capacity of about 20 megawatt-hours, backed by an investment of 12 million shekels, with construction work scheduled for 2027.

Electricity and water expenses represent the single largest operational cost for G-City's properties, reaching 188 million shekels in 2025, or 26% of total operating expenses. Installing storage systems allows companies to store electricity during off-peak hours and utilize it during peak demand, generating substantial savings on utility expenses.

"Electricity and water expenses reached 188 million shekels in 2025, accounting for 26% of G-City's total property operating expenses."

Industry-Wide Trend

G-City joins several other major income-producing real estate companies in Israel that have launched similar sustainability and cost-reduction initiatives over the past year. Notable industry moves include:

  • Big Shopping Centers: Signed agreements with Nofar Energy and Doral to establish extensive storage systems across its commercial properties.

  • Mivne: Partnered with Enlight Renewable Energy in a joint venture focusing on green electricity and storage facilities.

  • Gav-Yam and Mega Or: Formed agreements with Electra and Meshek Energy respectively to advance large-scale energy storage and independent power solutions.
