My Chemical Romance Hints at First New Album in Over 15 Years
My Chemical Romance has given fans their strongest hint yet about a potential new album, more than 15 years after their last studio record, 2010's Danger Days. Speaking at a concert at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, frontman Gerard Way told the crowd that the band has always wanted to make another record, though there is no official title, release date, or schedule just yet.
You guys have honestly kept us alive for so long. You deserve another record, and we'd love to make it. I don't know when that will be, but it's going to be awesome, Way told the audience.
Remembering Producer Doug McKean and the Road Ahead
The comments came before a performance of Foundations of Decay, the only single the band has officially released since reuniting in 2019. Way dedicated the moment to Doug McKean, a close friend and producer who worked on The Black Parade, Danger Days, Way's solo album Hesitant Alien, and produced Foundations of Decay before his death in 2022.
Meanwhile, the band continues to lean heavily into nostalgia. Over the past year, they have been headlining sold-out shows worldwide on the Long Live the Black Parade tour, and recently announced a 20th-anniversary edition of The Black Parade featuring new artwork by James Jean. Before any official word on a fifth album, MCR has several stops ahead, including festival appearances, a five-night residency at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles wrapping up on Halloween, and a series of shows in Asia through late November.
