Chairs, a crowbar, and arrested stewards: chaos at the Toto Cup match

A violent and unusual incident occurred this Wednesday evening during the Toto Cup match at the Shlomo Insurance Stadium in Petah Tikva. A confrontation between Hapoel Petah Tikva fans and security personnel escalated into a brawl in the stands, during which a fan sustained a head injury and was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital. Three stewards have been arrested for questioning.

The disturbance broke out during halftime following a verbal altercation between the parties. The situation quickly turned violent; footage from the scene shows security personnel and stewards throwing chairs at fans, while some fans retaliated with punches.

During the brawl, one fan was injured in the head after allegedly being struck with a crowbar. Another fan was injured when a chair was broken over him. YASAM special forces units were called to the scene to restore order. The injured fan was taken to Beilinson Hospital suffering from bleeding. Despite the incident, the second half of the match proceeded as scheduled.

Following the brawl, three stewards were detained. One of them, a resident of East Jerusalem, is suspected of striking the fan with a crowbar. Additionally, the stadium's security manager was ordered to provide investigators with the credentials of all stewards on duty. The match ended in a 2:0 loss for Hapoel Petah Tikva against Maccabi Netanya.
