"It's a scandal, it was done maliciously": New twist in the Maradona trial

The trial surrounding the death of Diego Maradona has entered a new legal dilemma. During one of the hearings in the second trial, which has already lasted more than 30 sessions, one of the lawyers discovered that the medical commission had mistakenly analyzed tests that did not belong to Diego but to his father, Don Diego Maradona, who was also treated by Swiss Medical in 2015.

The discovery raises a significant question: was part of the medical diagnosis regarding Maradona's death based on documents that were not his?

The error was revealed while one of the 20 experts who participated in the medical commission was giving testimony. The expert spoke about tests related to the kidney function of Maradona, when one of the lawyers checked the information and identified the discrepancy: one of the reports analyzed belonged to Don Diego and not to the football star.

According to the explanation provided, Don Diego Maradona had test results in 2015 regarding various health problems, and these tests were kept in the Swiss Medical system along with his son's documents. The confusion between the two files apparently led to the experts working with incorrect medical material.

Mario Baudry, the partner of Veronica Ojeda and the lawyer representing the son Dieguito Fernando, said emphatically:

"What is in question is a test performed on Diego in 2015. After six years, I don't think it's a lack of professionalism, but something that was done maliciously."

Although he clarified that in his opinion the error does not change the essence of the case, he emphasized that it is a serious incident in itself: "It's a scandal, because evidence was altered."

Francisco Oneto, the lawyer for neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, one of the defendants in the trial, also defined the incident as serious.

The new development once again casts doubt on the validity of some of the medical evidence in the case, which has been running for more than 30 hearings in its second phase and is now facing another obstacle on the way to a final verdict.
