Peak demand in the summer and hundreds of items forgotten daily: Israel Railways is launching a special operation to return about 5,000 lost items, from violins and fishing gear to baby strollers. Operating hours at the lost and found center at Tel Aviv Savidor Center station will be extended, and the company is calling on passengers to collect their belongings.
Against the backdrop of peak demand for train travel during the summer, Israel Railways is launching an operation to return items forgotten in train carriages to their owners.
As every summer, there is an increase in ridership as families, teenagers, and parents with children join regular commuters, traveling for trips, summer outings, flights from Ben Gurion Airport, and cruises from Haifa. Many items lost at stations or in carriages are left behind, and the service staff of the lost and found department collect, process, and store them until they are returned to their owners.
During the summer months, about 5,000 items have been processed by the department so far, including hundreds of mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and wireless headphones, as well as clothing, camping gear, backpacks, hats, sunglasses, and suitcases. Alongside routine items, fishing rods, musical instruments such as violins, unopened duty-free packages, scooters, and even baby strollers and car seats have been found.

The warehouses of the Israel Railways lost and found department have filled up, prompting the company to announce a special operation to return these items. An expedited process for retrieving lost property will be implemented, and operating hours at the Tel Aviv Savidor Center station will be extended until 19:00 from August 25 to August 31, 2026.
Israel Railways operates two lost and found departments at the Tel Aviv Savidor Center and Merkaz HaMifratz stations, which typically provide service between 08:00 and 18:00. Passengers can submit a lost item inquiry via the Israel Railways website and app, by calling customer service at *5770 (extension 3), or by visiting the department during operating hours.
