"It's not fair - but I'm grateful": Hunter Biden admits to the maneuver his father made

Hunter Biden, son of former US President Joe Biden, admits fully that the comprehensive presidential pardon he received from his father "was not good" for the American people, for the Constitution, and not even for the president's legacy. In an interview he gave yesterday (Friday) to the British BBC network, Biden Jr. provided a rare glimpse into his life, and defined himself without mincing words as "the most privileged person in existence."

Despite acknowledging the public damage, Hunter defended the controversial decision made in December 2024, which covered federal gun offenses, tax offenses, and any federal offense committed between 2014 and 2024. He explained that his father acted then out of fear that the incoming administration of Donald Trump would make him a target.

"It's something that is easy to criticize, and rightly so. It's not fair... but all I know is that I am grateful that he did it for me," Hunter admitted.

He emphasized that he never discussed the possibility of a pardon with his father before it was granted, as "there is no way to have such discussions without them becoming public." The interview with the BBC took an especially emotional turn when Hunter was asked about his father's health condition. He revealed that the former president's cancer has worsened significantly.

"The cancer has spread and metastasized to his bones and beyond. It is very painful and exhausting," he shared with pain.

He noted that the current period is "sad and very difficult to watch," but added with pride that his father remains "the toughest man I know." Referring to the disastrous presidential debate in June 2024, which ultimately led to his father's withdrawal from the race, he admitted that he watched it from home and understood immediately that something was wrong.

In addition, Hunter spoke candidly about his severe addiction to drugs and alcohol, a period he defined as "hell on earth." At its peak, he said he drank a huge amount of vodka daily and smoked crack cocaine every 15 minutes. He explained that the drugs were a desperate attempt to escape anxiety and isolation, and did not stem from a false sense of immunity.

At the end of his remarks, Biden Jr. ruled out any possibility of entering political life, and clarified that he intends to dedicate his life to promoting the fight against addictions, a goal that he says may bridge the political divides in America. Biden Jr. has recently been interviewed on a large number of podcasts where he presented his version of various affairs and answered questions that interested the American public. This coming Monday, he will participate in a new episode of Tucker Carlson's podcast.
