Disaster averted: Two girls rescued from a stream in the north after suffering from dehydration
The two felt unwell during a hike; a medical team from the Galilee-Carmel Search and Rescue Unit provided them with initial treatment in the field. After stabilizing their condition, the girls were rescued on foot and transferred for further treatment in a Magen David Adom ambulance.
Volunteers from the Galilee-Carmel Search and Rescue Unit of the Israel Police were dispatched on Monday evening to rescue two girls, aged approximately 16, who were suffering from symptoms of dehydration, severe weakness, and nausea during a hike in the Nahal Kelah-Galim area.
A medical team from the unit reached the girls in the field. The unit's paramedic provided them with initial medical treatment, including the administration of fluids and salts to stabilize their condition. Following an improvement in their condition and a medical assessment on-site, the unit's volunteers accompanied the two on foot toward the Pitulim parking area, where they met with a Magen David Adom ambulance for further examination and treatment.
Ziv Dameter, commander of the Galilee-Carmel Search and Rescue Unit, emphasized safety guidelines for hikers: "One must adapt the hiking route to weather conditions and heat stress, equip oneself with a sufficient amount of water, walk only on marked trails, and carry a charged mobile phone. In any case of distress, getting lost, or a medical incident in the field, one should immediately dial 100 to the Israel Police and request the search and rescue unit."
