British Airways Passenger Discovers Urine-Soaked Seat on Miami Flight
A British Airways passenger flying from Miami to London discovered her seat was soaked in urine. Crew members offered only paper towels and hand sanitizer.

A passenger flying from Miami to London aboard a British Airways flight discovered her seat was soaked in urine shortly after takeoff. According to her complaint published on X, the unpleasant odor was noticeable even before reaching the seat, but she initially mistook it for food. Upon sitting down, she realized her clothes were wet and immediately alerted the flight attendants.
Faced with a fully booked cabin for the eight-hour journey, the crew informed her that no alternative seats were available and declined to provide an extra blanket. Instead, the staff offered her paper towels and a tiny 15-milliliter bottle of hand sanitizer to clean the area herself. Lacking other options, she covered the seat with layers of paper towels, her bag, and her own blanket, enduring severe discomfort and embarrassment.
This incident follows a similar complaint against British Airways from September 2025, when a passenger on a Boston-to-London flight reported that a seat contaminated during the journey was left unaddressed. Aviation experts note that airlines should ground seats that cannot be properly sanitized or compensate passengers when suitable alternatives are unavailable.
