Global markets showed mixed trends as Asian exchanges responded to China's stronger-than-expected growth data, while Wall Street futures rebounded following last week's tech sell-off. Brent crude dropped 1.8% to trade below $108 a barrel despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and energy infrastructure attacks.

Asian Markets and China's Growth

Asian stock exchanges traded mixed this morning following reports that China's economy grew by 4.5% in the third quarter compared to the same period last year, beating economists' forecasts of 4.4%. Tokyo's Nikkei index fell 0.7%, while Shanghai strengthened by 0.2% and Seoul's Kospi climbed 0.5%. Meanwhile, Jakarta's index plummeted 5.1%, extending a severe drop amid concerns over its emerging market status.

Wall Street Recovery and Oil Prices

In New York, futures pointed toward a recovery as Dow Jones futures climbed 0.5%, S&P 500 futures added 0.8%, and Nasdaq futures advanced 1.3%. These gains follow last week's sharp declines in AI-related stocks, which saw the S&P 500 drop nearly 2% and the Nasdaq tumble 4.5%.

"Despite escalating attacks on energy infrastructure in Russia and the Persian Gulf, oil prices moved lower this morning," market analysts noted.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 1.1% to $100.3 a barrel, while Brent crude lost 1.8% to trade at $107.9 a barrel.

Foreign Exchange Movements

Foreign exchange trading presented a mixed picture, with the shekel strengthening against the dollar while weakening against the euro and the pound. The dollar fell 0.4% to trade at 3.100 shekels, the euro strengthened 0.2% to 3.483 shekels, and the pound climbed 0.5% to 4.132 shekels.
