Brazil Beats India 4-0 in Kolkata to Wrap Up Tour
Brazil defeated India 4-0 in Kolkata to conclude its Asian tour with a comfortable win. Estevao and Samuel Lino scored in the friendly match.
The Brazilian national team completed its tour in Australia and India with a comfortable 4-0 victory over India in Kolkata, in the first-ever match between the two sides. "More flashes than football," Marca wrote about the match, which was played in front of an enthusiastic local crowd.
Carlo Ancelotti continued his experiments and made eight changes to the lineup compared to the 4-2 win over Australia, with only Vinicius, Danilo, and Gabriel Bontempo keeping their places in the starting eleven.
India started bravely and tried to close down the spaces against the Brazilians, managing to make things difficult in the opening minutes. The dam broke in the 28th minute. Estevao cut from the right flank to the center and sent a left-footed shot into the near corner to make it 1-0. Just before halftime, he also provided a superb depth pass to Pedro, who doubled the lead.
Vinicius, who was very active on the left flank but struggled with the final action, was substituted at halftime after just 45 minutes. Samuel Lino came on in his place and left a much greater impact: around the 60th minute, he capitalized on an assist from Pedro to score his first goal for the national team, and in stoppage time, he completed a brace after dribbling past two defenders.
Endrick, who did not start this time, received half an hour and tried to get involved in several moves, but failed to make it onto the scoresheet.
In terms of results, Ancelotti can be satisfied: Brazil finished the tour with two wins and a draw. In the next window, in November, they will return to Asia for matches against Japan and Indonesia. However, the performance is still not dazzling, and it is doubtful whether this is the game that will restore confidence in him after the World Cup failure.
