Or Blorian Undergoes Emergency Heart Surgery, Sidelined for Rest of Season

Or Blorian, the 26-year-old center-back for the Israel national team and MLS side Sporting Kansas City, was discharged home on the eve of the holiday after undergoing emergency cardiac catheterization at the local Saint Luke's Hospital. The defender, who was a key pillar in Hapoel Be'er Sheva's championship run last season, is now sidelined for the remainder of the season and will have to adapt to a new reality far from the pitch.

In an exclusive interview, Blorian recounted the difficult period leading up to the incident, when he felt weakness, dizziness, and severe chest pain during training: "I calmed myself down and thought I was simply out of shape, I tried to push harder, but I felt something unusual was happening to me. I insisted to the team staff to go get checked because I know my body. It was a terrifying feeling, I've never felt like this in my life."

After comprehensive tests by the cardiologist revealed abnormal findings, it was decided to keep him overnight at the hospital, and early in the morning he was rushed for a diagnostic catheterization that quickly became therapeutic. During the procedure, doctors discovered a significant blockage in an artery: "They explained to me that there was no choice. In hindsight, my insistence on getting checked quickly saved my life. With the high exertion of games and training with a blocked coronary artery - my life was saved, it is an open miracle."

Blorian, who was supposed to start in the national team's lineup for the upcoming match against Austria, is now being treated with blood thinners and will only be able to gradually return to light training. Although he will miss the rest of the season, the American club clarified that the defender - who is signed for two more years - will stay in the US alongside his wife and parents, who rushed to arrive from Israel. "I had divine supervision," the defender concluded with gratitude, "I thank God who saved me."
