Leader of «Otzma Yehudit» and Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, announced that his party will demand the defense portfolio for himself and the justice portfolio for Knesset Member Tali Gotliv in the upcoming government. The security plan presented includes six core principles, focusing on voluntary migration from Gaza and the West Bank, dismantling the concept of containment, and neutralizing the Palestinian Authority's military capabilities.
Additional points in the platform involve revising open-fire regulations, increasing soldiers' salaries, allocating land to combat veterans, and opening elite military units such as Unit 8200 to all segments of the population. Ben Gvir emphasized the necessity of implementing the death penalty for terrorists, referencing the murder of Netanel Shukron on the eve of Yom Kippur.
«In the next government, I will demand the position of Defense Minister. The time has come to change Israel's security concept, bring the spirit of victory, and achieve decisive outcomes,» stated Itamar Ben Gvir.
Judicial Reform Proposals by Tali Gotliv
Knesset Member Tali Gotliv detailed her proposed judicial reforms, which feature the immediate dismissal of the Attorney General as a primary step upon forming the next government. The plan also introduces mandatory confirmation hearings for Supreme Court justices through the Knesset Constitution Committee, requiring a two-thirds majority.
Gotliv's platform aims to restrict the Supreme Court's jurisdiction by tightening the standing doctrine and explicitly defining non-justiciable matters. Furthermore, the proposals call for abolishing the judicial candidate screening course and enacting stricter penalties for organized crime and terrorism.
