A Beersheba Magistrate's Court ordered the unconditional release of Dr. Siyaf Abu Riyash, a 38-year-old physician from the al-Sana clan, who was arrested by Lahav 433 investigators on suspicion of election offenses linked to the so-called "envelope affair" involving the Ra'am party.

Police requested a seven-day house arrest, which Judge Eran Sabag firmly rejected, criticizing the police for demanding an internet ban without justification, noting the suspect's normative lifestyle and professional reliance on web access. During the hearing, the defense accused police of conducting an illegal search at the suspect's home, an allegation confirmed by the investigator who admitted no search warrant was obtained.

The investigation stems from intelligence provided by Ido Norden, acting chief of staff to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to police, envelopes containing cash and ballots were seized during searches at three suspects' homes, though police previously admitted in court that no warrants were held.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud party utilized the affair to claim an attempt to rig the elections, rhetoric that escalated following the vote results. Meanwhile, the Central Election Committee emphasized that the investigated suspicions do not constitute a violation of election integrity, noting no indications of falsified votes or bribed voters.
