Viral Video of Baby Crawling Up Mountain Trail Sparks Online Debate in China
A viral video of a nine-month-old baby crawling up a mountain trail in China has sparked a heated debate online about infant safety versus early outdoor exploration.

A viral video capturing a nine-month-old baby crawling up the stone steps of a mountain trail in Wuhan, China, has sparked intense debate across Chinese social media. While some online users expressed serious concern for the infant's safety, others praised the parents for encouraging outdoor exploration.
Filmed on Mount Qinglong, the expedition marked the very first mountain trip for the baby, named Wenwen. The father explained that the intention was simply to let the child expend energy rather than put him through rigorous training. Having started crawling at six months and mastering stairs by eight months, the toddler was deemed capable of handling the slope, with his mother closely supervising every step.
The parents noted that their son becomes restless when confined indoors for too long and now plan to take him hiking bi-weekly, with upcoming plans for camping trips. Despite the criticism regarding his age, the parents emphasized safety, advising that such outings require at least three adults, moderate paths, and proper protective gear like the knee pads worn by the baby in the video.
