British MP Ayoub Khan Sparks Outrage Over Tel Aviv Flight Conspiracy Claims
British MP Ayoub Khan faced severe backlash for hinting at a false-flag conspiracy regarding a security incident on a flydubai flight to Tel Aviv.
Independent British Member of Parliament Ayoub Khan, representing Birmingham Perry Barr, has sparked widespread public outrage after casting doubt on the nature of a recent security incident aboard a flydubai flight en route to Tel Aviv, hinting at a false-flag conspiracy theory.
The dramatic incident, in which the lives of more than 170 passengers and crew members were saved thanks to the swift actions of those on board, drew a controversial response from Khan. His remarks were widely interpreted as echoing conspiracy theories blaming Israel for the event.
Condemnation from Jewish Leadership
Following the remarks, the Board of Deputies of British Jews issued a sharp condemnation through Senior Vice President Adrian Cohen: "An event that could have been catastrophic was averted thanks to the courage of heroic passengers and crew. This is a stark reminder of the threats stemming from hatred directed at Israel and Jews worldwide. In a situation where the lives of over 170 people were saved by these heroic actions, we can all do without this toxic conspiratorial thinking that fuels extremism. This MP's response is tone-deaf, tasteless, and has no place in our politics."
Lord Austin, a Labour member of the House of Lords, also joined the chorus of condemnation, directly attacking Khan. Lord Austin stated that Khan should apologize for the disgraceful statement, which appeared to support crazy conspiracy theories claiming the flydubai terror plot was somehow an Israeli false-flag operation.
"It seems this Member of Parliament is completely obsessed with the world's only Jewish state. Decent residents of Birmingham and the good people of Perry Barr deserve so much better than this," Lord Austin remarked.
History of Controversial Remarks
Khan, who also works as a criminal defense lawyer, is no stranger to anti-Israel controversies. Last year, he was considered a key figure in an attempt to prevent Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from traveling to Birmingham for a match against Aston Villa. In 2023, while serving as a local councillor for the Liberal Democrats, he posted TikTok videos questioning the scale of the massacres and atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7.
Although the Liberal Democrats claimed at the time that Khan had apologized, deleted the videos, and agreed to undergo antisemitism training, Khan later published another video declaring that he never found his TikTok content offensive and never agreed to any training.
