Increase in heat stress: weather forecast
Heavy to extreme heat stress is expected in most parts of the country, with Mediterranean waves reaching up to a meter. Temperatures will continue to rise in the coming days, bringing hotter and drier conditions inland, with muggy weather on the coastal plain.
Throughout Saturday, no significant change in temperatures is expected, though heat stress will increase across most of the country. The maximum solar radiation index is forecast to be very high to extreme. The Mediterranean Sea will be wavy, with wave heights ranging from 70 cm to a meter.
Extreme heat stress is expected in the southern Golan Heights, the northern valleys, the Kinneret valley, the Dead Sea area, the Jordan Valley, the Arava, and the eastern Negev. Heavy heat stress is forecast for the coastal plain, the Shephelah, the Carmel region, as well as Western and Lower Galilee.
On Sunday, a slight rise in temperatures will lead to further increases in heat stress. Monday will see continued warming, with hotter and drier conditions in the mountains and inland, while the coastal plain will remain muggy. Heavy to extreme heat stress will prevail across most of the country.
Tuesday will continue to be hotter than usual and dry in the mountains and inland, with muggy conditions on the coastal plain. Heavy to extreme heat stress will persist in most areas.
