Beyond the pool and sunbeds: violent brawls continue in Eilat hotels

New footage has revealed a series of violent incidents that occurred this past weekend in Eilat hotels, as hundreds of thousands of vacationers crowd the city. The recordings show physical and noisy confrontations in lobbies and by hotel pools, involving not only teenagers but also adults in their thirties, as reported in Wednesday's main news broadcast.

In one recording, a confrontation develops in a hotel lobby in front of reception staff. The video shows two men in a physical altercation while a woman attempts to separate them, before another individual joins the fray. Another recording captures a violent brawl at the poolside, taking place amidst regular vacation activities.

A witness to the lobby incident stated:

"On Sunday, I arrived in Eilat with my wife. The hotel was extremely crowded. It reached a point where an elderly person fainted, and we had to call an ambulance. Meanwhile, there were thugs acting tough, throwing punches and using violence. Another woman also fainted."

Colonel Alon Calfon, Eilat District Commander, addressed the factors behind these outbursts:

"This past weekend, there was indeed an increase in brawls across several hotels. Ultimately, it is the human factor. It depends on the mix of people, how much alcohol they consume, and when you combine that with high temperatures and a festive atmosphere, you get friction that leads to violence."

Police have arrested seven suspects in connection with these incidents. The detention of some suspects has been extended, while others were released under court-imposed conditions. The police emphasize that they will continue to act to bring all involved parties to justice.
