Attention drivers: Complete closure of Highway 1 towards Jerusalem
Traffic changes on the route to the capital: Due to maintenance and safety work on the Motza Bridge, Highway 1 eastbound will be closed starting Thursday at 22:00 for 12 hours. Alternative routes are provided.
Highway 1 in the eastbound direction (Jerusalem) will be closed to traffic on the night between Thursday and Friday (July 30–31), from 22:00 until 10:00 on Friday morning.
This is a complete and planned closure lasting approximately 12 consecutive hours, intended to allow the Netivei Israel company to carry out safety, maintenance, and essential engineering work on the Motza Bridge.
Traffic arrangements and alternative routes
During the work, vehicle traffic will not be possible on Highway 1 towards Jerusalem in the area of the Motza interchange. Netivei Israel notes that although the work is scheduled for night hours to minimize impact on daily routines, traffic congestion is possible in the area, and they urge the public to be patient and prepare accordingly.
How to travel?
For drivers arriving from Tel Aviv and the center, two alternative routes have been defined:

Via the Motza ramp: traffic will be directed to the ramp, from where it will be possible to merge back onto Highway 1 towards Jerusalem.

Via Highway 16: alternatively, drivers can continue via Highway 16 to the southern and central entrances of the city.
