In recent years, Ariana Grande has embarked on several major projects, including her anticipated starring role in the much-discussed film "Wicked," successful concert tours, and her new, intriguing album "Petal," released this past weekend. However, alongside the musical success, the new music video for the title track led to an unexpected wave of reactions on social media.

Following this wave of criticism, the American singer announced that she will stop performing in public and will cancel her planned participation in a musical at the Barbican Theatre in London. This decision will take effect immediately upon the conclusion of her current tour, "Eternal Sunshine," at the beginning of next month.

A representative for Grande confirmed to People magazine:

"The decision stems from a desire to step away from media exposure following relentless public criticism regarding her appearance and health status."

He emphasized that her health is fine and that she continues to perform, but she needs a break from working in front of the public.

The production company Empire Street Productions confirmed the details and stated that Grande will not take part in the revival of the musical "Sunday in the Park with George" scheduled for 2027. The company stated that it supports Grande's decision and that a replacement actress for the role has not yet been cast.

As a reminder, the music video deals with sharp criticism of the entertainment industry. During the scenes, she endures rejections and offensive comments regarding her skills and physical appearance. At the end of the video, Ariana's character fights back with a harsh message against the system. Although the video was intended to convey a message about growth through hardship, the public discourse quickly shifted to focus on Grande's own physical appearance.
