The IDF announced this morning (Sunday) that it eliminated Abu Hassan Alaa, a senior commander in Hezbollah's "Badr" unit, in a strike carried out yesterday in the Deir ez-Zahrani area in Lebanon. According to the IDF, the elimination was carried out in response to an action by the terrorist organization against forces operating in the security zone.

According to the IDF Spokesperson's announcement, in his role, Alaa was involved in advancing numerous terror plots against IDF forces, including the launching of explosive drones at forces in southern Lebanon. In recent years, he commanded several combat sectors in Hezbollah and operated against IDF forces and Israeli citizens.

The elimination comes after a night of strikes in southern Lebanon. Lebanon's National News Agency reported explosions in the towns of Bint Jbeil and Taybeh, hours after Israeli strikes reportedly killed at least 11 people. It was further reported that drones struck the outskirts of the town of Al-Mansouri and that artillery fire was directed at the towns of Sarbin, Baraachit, Al-Mansouri, and Wadi Zibqin. Additionally, strikes were reported in Al-Qantara and Ali al-Tahir.

In the IDF, they noted that his elimination constitutes a blow to the management capabilities of the "Badr" unit. The elimination joins that of Ali Samir al-Hajj Hassan, who served as a battalion commander in the "Radwan Force" unit and was eliminated in a strike on a headquarters in the Ansar area.

"The IDF will not allow the terrorist organization Hezbollah to harm the citizens of the State of Israel and its forces, and will continue to act to remove threats," it was stated.
