After a severe injury in Gaza: A Golani soldier stunned Idan Raichel and moved the audience to tears
Avraham Dahan took the stage on The Voice, performed an emotional song, and closed a deep circle with the judge who visited him in the hospital and decided to give him an extraordinary personal gift.
23-year-old Avraham Dahan from Even Shmuel is known to some of the public as a child who participated in the program 'Music School'. In August 2022, he was drafted into the Golani Brigade, and on November 17, during the fighting in Gaza, the 'Namer' armored personnel carrier he was riding in was hit by an RPG missile. All occupants of the vehicle were wounded, and Dahan was evacuated by helicopter to the hospital in serious condition.
The long rehabilitation process and the return to life were constantly accompanied by music, with his father even setting up a home recording studio for him to help him heal through creation.
When he took the stage for the auditions of The Voice on Reshet 13, Dahan chose to perform the song 'Balaila Balaila'. The deep voice, the precision, and the great emotion he brought with him from the difficult experience he went through left no one in the studio indifferent. As the song ended, he turned to the panel of judges, gathered his strength, and recited the 'Mizmor LeToda' (Psalm of Thanksgiving) in an emotional voice.
The moving gesture caused tears and thunderous applause among the judges, the audience, and the family members who accompanied him backstage. For Dahan and Idan Raichel, the reunion on stage was a deep and personal closure. The two had met in the past when Dahan was a child, and later met again during a visit to wounded soldiers in the hospital.
After Raichel added Dahan to his team, he gave him his traditional 'five' necklace as a personal gesture, asking him to keep it in his pocket as a good luck charm and in honor of his military service.
'I won the lottery, I am here, there is still time and everything will change. Music gives me meaning in life, so that I didn't remain just like that,' Dahan summarized his feelings following the injury and the return to the stage.
