Maccabi Haifa officially announced this morning, Monday, the end of Matias Nahuel's tenure. The Spanish-Argentinian attacking midfielder is leaving the 'Greens' after two years in which he failed to justify the high expectations placed upon him, and he will receive compensation of 250,000 euros.

Nahuel arrived at Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2024 from the Polish club Slask Wroclaw for approximately 2.5 million euros, a sum that made him the most expensive signing in the club's history. At Maccabi Haifa, they hoped he would be the professional leader of the team in the era after Tjaronn Chery, but in practice, he struggled to integrate, suffered from a prolonged injury, and failed to make an impact. During his two seasons on the Carmel, Nahuel recorded only 24 appearances in all competitions, in which he scored three goals. Ahead of last season, he even received the number 10 shirt, but this move did not lead to a breakthrough either.

During the past season, Nahuel was loaned to the Polish club Jagiellonia in an attempt to return him to form, but he struggled to impress there as well. He recorded 16 appearances, did not find the net, and provided only one assist. Now, after the separation from Maccabi Haifa has become official, the 29-year-old player, who previously played for clubs such as Villarreal, Olympiacos, Betis, Deportivo La Coruna, Tenerife, and Real Oviedo, and even played for Spain's youth national teams, will try to open a new chapter in his career.
