After being suspended from the NFL: will the son of the legendary former wrestler move to WWE?

Brock Rechsteiner's rookie season has already started on the wrong foot. The New Orleans Saints receiver, and son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, has been suspended for six games, the NFL announced on Thursday. The exact reason for his suspension is still unclear.

Rechsteiner, who signed with the Saints after the draft in April as an undrafted free agent, has limited chances of making the final 53-man roster, but even during the suspension, he can still be included in the practice squad. He is allowed to participate in the training camp and the Saints' three preseason games, so he will be able to continue fighting for a spot on the roster.

His chances of making the 90-man preseason roster improved after former New England Patriots receiver Jalen Polk unexpectedly announced his retirement at just 24 years old. Bryan Bresee's serious knee injury, which ended his season, also opened up another spot on the roster.

However, if Rechsteiner fails to make the final New Orleans roster, he may follow in his father's footsteps and move to WWE, having already hinted at it in May:

"I train with Bron Breakker (cousin, WWE wrestler) all the time when I'm home. I also go fishing with him a lot since he moved back to Georgia. He really convinced me that once I'm done with football, I'll get into the wrestling business. I want to play football for as long as I can and give it the best shot I can. But when I'm done with football, I'm definitely getting into it. I'm going to WWE," Rechsteiner told WDSU-TV.

23-year-old Rechsteiner played four seasons at Jacksonville State and finished his college career with 630 yards, 52 receptions, and seven touchdowns in 35 games. His most notable moment came in a win over Southern Mississippi, when he caught an 85-yard touchdown pass on the second play of the second half.

His 64-year-old father, Scott, is remembered as one of the wrestling stars of the early 90s, when he was part of the "Steiner Brothers" along with his older brother Rick. The two were WWF Tag Team Champions at the time, later moved to WCW where Scott developed an impressive singles career, including winning the World Championship. In 2002, he returned to WWE, then competed in smaller organizations, and in 2006 moved to TNA. In 2022, he was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame along with his brother.
