Apple to Unveil First Foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro at Cupertino Event
Apple CEO John Ternus leads his first annual launch event at Apple Park in Cupertino, where the tech giant is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone Ultra, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series and Apple Watch Series 12.
Apple is opening a new era tonight, and not just because of the iPhone. John Ternus, the new CEO of the tech giant, will lead the company's annual launch event for the first time at Apple Park in Cupertino, just over a week after Tim Cook became the company's active chairman.
The Anticipated Foldable iPhone
This time, at least according to reports, it is not just another routine iPhone update. After years of rumors, renderings, and waiting while Samsung and other manufacturers have already built an entire category, Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone. Its name has not yet been confirmed, but according to estimates, it may be called iPhone Ultra.
Reports indicate a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch internal screen, not far from the iPad mini, which comes with an 8.3-inch screen. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reported that the device includes a rigid hinge and an interface adapted to work in a tablet-like configuration. On the other hand, according to reports, the camera array will not include a telephoto lens. If the price tag indeed crosses the $2,000 threshold, this will be quite a compromise for anyone coming from the Pro models.
iPhone 18 Series and Apple Watch Updates
However, the foldable is not expected to stand alone on stage. Apple is also expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with Gurman even estimating that the event invitation's graphics may hint at a new light blue shade. In fact, the standard iPhone 18 model is expected to be absent: according to several reports, Apple split this year's launches, and the base model, alongside the second generation of iPhone Air and the iPhone 18e, is expected only in the spring of 2027.
Apple Watch will also receive its traditional stage time, with Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 expected to be unveiled. An update to the Apple Watch SE, which underwent a significant refresh only last year, is not expected this time.
