Ministry of Health issues urgent call: Please donate blood, especially O type

A significant decrease in blood stocks has led Magen David Adom and the Ministry of Health to urge the public to donate at collection points nationwide. Director-General Moshe Bar Siman-Tov emphasized that if three months have passed since a previous donation, citizens should come forward again, as this simple act saves lives.

In light of a significant decrease in national blood stocks, particularly for O blood type, the Ministry of Health and Magen David Adom issued an urgent call this Monday morning for the public to donate blood at collection points across the country.

Blood units are required daily for the ongoing operation of the healthcare system, including surgeries, births, medical treatments, and emergency response, as well as for the security establishment and soldiers wounded on the battlefield. Reinforcement of these stocks is currently essential to ensure continuous availability for all medical needs.

Ministry of Health Director-General Moshe Bar Siman-Tov stated:

"We need to reinforce blood stocks regularly, and I call on the public to come and donate; if more than 3 months have passed since your previous donation, please come and donate again. Donating blood is a simple act that saves lives, and it is part of our shared responsibility in both routine and emergency times. I invite everyone who is eligible to come to Magen David Adom centers and join the thousands of Israelis who do so every year."
