Anthropic Reportedly Talks to Nvidia for $10 Billion Anchor Investment Ahead of $2 Trillion IPO
Anthropic is reportedly in talks with Nvidia to secure up to $10 billion as an anchor investor for its upcoming IPO, which could value the AI firm at nearly $2 trillion.

Anthropic is in talks with Nvidia to serve as an anchor investor in its upcoming IPO, which could value the AI firm at approximately $2 trillion, according to Reuters. Nvidia is considering investing up to $10 billion in the offering, though plans remain under discussion and are subject to change. An investment by Nvidia in Anthropic, the developer of Claude, would deepen the ties between the chip manufacturer and one of its key customers, while boosting investor confidence in what is slated to be one of the most anticipated public offerings in recent years. In November 2025, Nvidia announced plans to invest up to $10 billion in Anthropic as part of a broader partnership, under which the AI company committed to purchasing $30 billion in Microsoft Azure cloud computing services powered by Nvidia chips. Reuters noted that Anthropic declined to comment on the report, and Nvidia did not immediately respond. Anchor investors are typically institutional buyers who commit to purchasing a fixed portion of shares prior to public marketing, thereby signaling strong market confidence. This strategy has become increasingly common in mega-IPO. For instance, anchor investors in Arm's 2023 chip IPO included Nvidia and Amazon, while Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) participated in SpaceX's historic offering. Anthropic's IPO is expected to take place in October, ahead of the US midterm elections scheduled for November 3. The company filed a confidential prospectus for the offering in June, following a $65 billion fundraising round in May that valued the firm at $965 billion.
