Anis Cultural Center, operating under the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, has launched a special film festival and marathon titled "Films Worth Watching Especially Before the Elections." Running from October 8 to October 24, the cultural event features carefully curated Israeli films alongside creator talks, with tickets priced at an accessible 10 shekels.

The screenings take place across two cultural hubs in Jaffa: Beit HaBe'er on 6 Salame Road and the Mandel Cultural Center on 1 HaTquma Street. The program highlights prominent local cinematic works addressing social and political themes, offering audiences a chance to engage directly with directors and critics.

Festival Highlights and Locations

Screenings at Beit HaBe'er kick off on October 8 with a double feature of short films, "After the Vote Count" and "2:30 Minutes for 5 Shekels," followed by a discussion. Meanwhile, the Mandel Cultural Center hosts a rich lineup including the documentary "Awakening - The Struggle for Democracy in Israel,Shalom" with director Meital Zviely, and Shmi Zarhin's drama "The Silence."

Additional featured screenings include Roni Ninio's "Farewell Column," Eran Kolirin's "Notes on the Situation," Nadav Lapid's "Yes!" accompanied by critic Yair Raveh, and the Docaviv 2025 winner "Know Hope."

Renewal and Expansion Project

"The festival demonstrates our ongoing commitment to community and culture, even as we build for the future," noted organizers during the launch.

While hosting these events offsite, the Anis Cultural Center in Jaffa D' is currently undergoing a massive 25 million shekel renewal and expansion project. Initiated in September 2026 and expected to last a year, the upgrade will introduce a new auditorium, an active rooftop terrace, and a café.
