Amcha Yisrael Rules Out Relying on UTJ Leader Goldknopf for Coalition
Amcha Yisrael representative Aviv Ezra stated that his party will not rely on UTJ leader Yitzhak Goldknopf to form a coalition, while refusing to clarify future ties with Benjamin Netanyahu.
Aviv Ezra, representative of the Amcha Yisrael party, clarified on Sunday that his party does not intend to rely on United Torah Judaism leader Yitzhak Goldknopf to form a future coalition. Speaking at the National Youth Conference at Binyanei HaUma in Jerusalem, Ezra emphasized that his party exists to serve the public of reservists and serving soldiers, making it impossible to rely on Goldknopf as the decisive 61st vote for a government.
During the conference, a verbal altercation broke out when Michal Hirsch Negri and Yaya Fink accused Ezra that his party would ultimately sit in a government with Benjamin Netanyahu. Ezra avoided giving a direct answer, responding instead that his party members take action rather than sitting around and complaining all day.
The statements in Jerusalem come against the backdrop of political developments among the Haredi parties, which are closing ranks. Earlier today, United Torah Judaism and Shas officially announced that they signed a surplus vote agreement ahead of the upcoming elections.
