Amazon is in advanced talks to acquire Israeli artificial intelligence startup Decart for approximately $7 billion, according to sources familiar with the matter cited by The Wall Street Journal. The deal could be finalized soon. Decart, founded in 2023 by brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf along with Moshe Shulav, has developed technology that enables companies to run AI models efficiently and switch relatively easily between chips from different manufacturers.

Technology and Market Position

The startup's capability has become particularly sought after amid the global race for computing power and the efforts of tech giants to reduce dependence on Nvidia chips, which dominate the AI accelerator market. Decart also develops world models, including Lucy and Oasis, capable of generating and simulating interactive 3D environments using artificial intelligence.

According to PitchBook data cited by the Journal, Decart has raised more than $400 million from venture capital funds, including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Radical Ventures. In May, its valuation was estimated at about $4 billion.

Strategic Partnership with AWS

The connection between Decart and Amazon is longstanding. Amazon's cloud division, AWS, granted Decart early access to its custom Trainium3 AI chip in 2025. For Amazon, an acquisition of this scale would represent one of its largest transactions in recent years, reinforcing its position in AI infrastructure.
