Attacked for confronting a man who filmed minors at a pool: "I no longer walk alone in the streets"

Sarit Buaron was violently attacked by a stranger in an incident that began after he filmed her minor relatives at a pool. In an interview for the program "HaOlam HaBoker" ("The World This Morning"), she shared the details of the attack that left her with significant injuries, including a broken nose and bruised face.

"He was so aggressive that I cannot describe it in words," Buaron said, describing the intensity of the attack, and added: "I bent down, and when I lifted my head, he gave me two punches to the face and a blow to the shoulder."

Buaron's ordeal did not end with the attack itself, and she sharply criticizes the police conduct at the scene, which she defines as a failure. According to her, while she was wounded and bleeding, a police officer delayed her evacuation by ambulance in order to take her statement. "He delayed me and did not let me leave until he took a statement," she recalls. Furthermore, she says that the officers did not act to collect evidence from the scene. "They did not bother to photograph anything," she emphasizes, adding that the only documentation from the scene was carried out by her family members. The chain of failures, according to her, was concluded by the rapid release of the attacker by the same officer.

Beyond the physical harm, Buaron describes difficult feelings of deep disappointment and a breach of trust in the law enforcement system. The conduct of the police at the scene, which she says added insult to injury, left her with a feeling of helplessness and fear, as she felt abandoned by those who were supposed to protect her. She emphasizes the absurdity of being interrogated inside the ambulance instead of receiving urgent medical treatment: "The fact that an officer interrogates me inside the ambulance and does not come with me to the hospital to interrogate me there, that is also a failure," she states.

Israel Police response: "Police officers arrived at the scene and opened an investigation, took statements, collected findings, and checked the claims of the parties, who raised mutual allegations regarding an assault. An initial statement was taken from the complainant without delaying her evacuation for medical treatment. At the end of the investigation actions, the involved parties were released under restrictive conditions, including a restraining order. The investigation is ongoing."
