Afula Resident Arrested for Assaulting Elderly Man Over Blocked Car
A 78-year-old Afula resident was assaulted and injured after asking a sanitation worker to move bins blocking his car. The 42-year-old suspect was arrested and his remand extended.
A 78-year-old resident of Afula was assaulted and sustained facial injuries after asking a sanitation worker to move garbage bins blocking his car as he prepared to leave for morning prayers at a local synagogue. The 42-year-old suspect has been arrested.
The incident took place on Wednesday. According to the Israel Police, an emergency call was received at the 100 dispatch center reporting that an elderly man had been hospitalized following an altercation with a sanitation employee in the city.
An investigation revealed that the elderly man had politely requested the worker to clear the blocked pathway. Following the request, the suspect allegedly attacked him, leaving him with facial injuries.
Police officers apprehended the suspect shortly after the incident. He was brought before the Magistrates' Court in Nof HaGalil-Nazareth, which extended his remand until September 28. The investigation remains ongoing.
