A startling new report by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reveals that severe antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment have deeply penetrated the cultural sphere in the United States over the past three years. Museums, publishing houses, and art institutions are increasingly sidelining Jewish and Israeli creators.

Systematic Marginalization in Culture

According to the ADL report, numerous American museums are concealing significant Jewish and Israeli art collections. These world-class works are frequently integrated into broader narratives that obscure their specific origins, making them difficult for visitors to identify. Meanwhile, Jewish and Israeli artists face rampant boycotts, cancellations, and blacklists.

Performances by Jewish artists are canceled, they are placed on blacklists, and they are pushed out of American cultural life, said Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the ADL.

Publishing and Art World Censorship

Interviews with dozens of authors and publishing professionals revealed severe discrimination, including the suppression of books featuring Jewish, Israeli, or Zionist themes. Writers are routinely asked to remove Hebrew words and alter Jewish character names to secure publication. The ADL documented 65 incidents across 41 locations in the United States involving the harassment and silencing of artists.
