Indictment: Two Tel Sheva residents charged after fleeing police with a pistol and striking a family's vehicle
Two Tel Sheva residents have been indicted for carrying an illegal Glock pistol, attempting to evade police, and causing a collision with a family's vehicle. Charges include reckless endangerment, obstructing a police officer, and illegal weapons possession.
First publication: An indictment was filed today (Sunday) against Muhammad Abu Solb (21) and Ez Abu Asa (18), residents of Tel Sheva, for carrying and transporting a Glock pistol. According to the indictment, the two attempted to flee from police officers and struck a vehicle in which a family was traveling.
From the indictment, filed by Adv. Hila Malul of the Southern District Attorney's Office, it emerges that in early July, the two were driving a vehicle in Be'er Sheva while in possession of a Glock 19 pistol and a matching magazine without a legal permit. During police activity in the area, officers approached their vehicle after it had stopped. Upon noticing the officers, the defendants attempted to flee the scene, drove in reverse at high speed, and struck a vehicle in which a family was traveling. As a result of the maneuver, the officers were pushed back and damage was caused to the family's vehicle.
Due to the danger posed to the officers and road users, one of the officers fired at the vehicle's tires in an attempt to stop the defendants' escape. After the vehicle stopped, one of the defendants exited, while the second defendant resisted arrest. One of the officers was forced to insert his body into the vehicle and press his foot on the brake pedal to prevent it from continuing to drive.
The indictment charges the defendants with offenses of carrying and transporting weapons, reckless and negligent acts, and obstructing a police officer in the performance of his duties.
